Starcon2 is a long, text-heavy game and this screencap adventure reflects that pretty accurately. Lots of chapters and talking and images in this one. I think one of the chapters has like 500 screencaps in it, as a note.

Starcon2 came out in 1992 and is kind of a strategy/mining/real time combat/rpg space opera kind of thing, and it blends every genre perfectly. Every race is completely unique, with their own font and music and history and everything, and the music in this game is perfect. I was obsessed with this game as a kid and it still shows today. A lot of turns of phrase have stuck with me over all this time, and it's kind of dancey/techno/electronic music definitely influenced my taste in music today. I'd play Melee over and over when I was bored, and actually made friends by inviting them to play Melee with me. It's just been such a huge part of my life for so long.

I love this game to death, but it's terribly obscure (although not as much as it used to be, thanks to the UQM remake) and very few people had heard about it, much less played it. Especially since Starcon2 was extremely picky about playing on modern computers. While it had a very devoted fanbase, it was also very small. It was just this one thing that I loved so much that no one ever seemed to know about or would ever play, and I did this screencap adventure to show what this part of me was and to hopefully get this game more recognition after all this time. I did this screencap adventure in hopes of getting more people to play it, or at least see what I loved so much about it, and hopefully I was successful!

You can download the original version [[WWW]here] and there's a walkthrough on how to get it to work on a modern computer [[WWW]here], or you can download the Ur-Quan Masters remake [[WWW]here] (BUT DON'T DOWNLOAD THE VOICES, THEY WILL RUIN IT FOREVER).

This screencap adventure is finished, and it's by Zarla.
