Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories
Square Enix
First released in 2004, Chain of Memories serves as a direct sequel to the very popular RPG "Kingdom Hearts." This is one of the first Gameboy Advance games to feature full motion video, and also introduces a new and unique card-based battle system to a series that generally just uses a real-time one. While Chain of Memories is not as popular as its PS2 siblings, it still managed to sell 104,000 copies in 48 hours, earning it the position of Most Popular GBA Title at the time. Not to mention that it received many good reviews. Quite a prestigious little game!
...however, because of how frustrating and difficult it is to get the hang of said battle system, most people don't even bother with this game. This was actually one of my main motivations for doing this — Chain of Memories is a pretty vital part of the Kingdom Hearts series (it explains a LOT of stuff about Kingdom Hearts 2, like Organization XIII and Namine and why Sora was in that wacky ol' chamber and that kind of thing), and as someone who was a pretty big fan of the games back in the day, it bothered me that so many people were missing out (though I guess, when you get right down to it, "I don't want people to miss out on this" is the main reason why I do ANY screenshot adventure, really). So it really makes me happy whenever people comment and tell me that they're glad I did that screencap adventure because they didn't want to fool with the battle system — it makes me toughing it out feel all the more worthwhile!
This is the very first actual screencap adventure I ever did (aside from Sims 2 screenshot posts and the like), and it really kind of shows, or at least to me. What you should keep in mind while reading this is A.) I had barely even played the game beforehand, hence why I was making all sorts of weird theories and stuff as I went along, and B.) I was young and foolish at the time, hence why my commentary can get a little annoying. I actually did go back and tone down some of my more fannish moments, though.
AND WITHOUT FURTHER ADO...
This screencap adventure is finished, and it's by Dox.
